From the Cookie jar: This week in cookies

I have been busy creating a variety of custom decorated cookies this spring, and this week’s collection includes flags, flowers, butterflies and sunglasses. Each order has involved a new cookie design and bright, bright colors, and I continue to be inspired by the unique requests I receive from my wonderful clients.

This week in cookies…

Here’s a look at this week in cookies – the flowers, butterflies and sunglasses are decorated in buttercream frosting, and each collection features one-of-a-kind cookies so that no two cookies are alike. This is a common request from my clients and I love the creative freedom this kind of cookie order gives me – so much fun! Tony (my hubby) asked me which one is my favorite from each group, and it almost too difficult to pick just one but I do have favorites. Stay tuned because there will be more on that coming up (hint, hint).

I’ve also been preparing for my Syttende Mai promotion, which features Hearts of Norway sugar cookies decorated with royal icing, my authentic Norwegian Krumkake and the cutest Pepperkaker cup cookies – I am in love with them and the gingerbread makes my kitchen smell just heavenly. I love working with sugar cookie dough and creating a variety of shapes and sizes for my custom orders. My master sugar cookie recipe makes cookies that are wonderfully crispy with a slightly tender center and amazing flavor, thanks to the addition of pure almond extract.

Over the next few weeks I will be playing with different flavors of sugar cookies to see what I can add to my repertoire. I will be testing recipes for strawberry, red velvet, chocolate and cardamom-orange spice sugar cookies and would love to know: which one would you choose?
